Miscellany

Last week was crammed full of fun and business.  Kellie and I had a marvelous time at Pickin' on the Prairie.   As Kellie said everything I wanted to say in her post (and as I didn't take any pictures), you can read her post here.

David Tennant sings.  The end.

Also, I really, really, really want to see Catherine and David in Much Ado About Nothing.  They're so great together.

I went for a lovely little ride on my Bobby boy this morning.  Just hopped on him bareback and took off, with the Bonnie dog trailing along behind.  About 30 minutes later, I remembered why I don't usually ride him bareback without a bareback pad - he's got the most uncomfortable, bony back ever.  I think I'll be walking funny for a few days...but it was so worth it.

Dewey, my bro's horse, has been getting the royal treatment here lately.  He shed the frog (sole) of his hoof, and being the big, flat footed, tender foot that he is, he got sore feet.  (shedding the frog is normal, btw)  Tom, our farrier, recommended soaking his hooves twice a day for a while to prevent abscesses.  So, every morning and evening Dewey's had his front feet soaked.  15 min. per foot in warm water and epsom salts.  He's feeling very special and is definitely on the mend.

As much as I hate to admit it, it's definitely starting to feel and smell like Autumn here.  There's an unmistakable crispness in the morning and evening air.  *cringe*  Noooooo!!!  I love Autumn, it's my favorite season, but I'm not ready for summer to be over yet!  However, I am looking forward to pulling out my sweaters, scarves and hats again.  There's always a bright side:)

My brother was at the fair today selling and signing his books and playing with his Bluegrass band.  He and Christopher (one of my "extra" brothers) came home with pizza and donuts.  We ate them while watching Megamind.  The perfect way to wrap up our day.

Speaking of the fair, I'm looking forward to going this year.  I'd love to catch the rodeo, especially since I haven't gone for the past few years.  The jokes some of the clowns were telling were rather crude and vulgar last time I went, and I haven't been brave enough to go since.  But, I'm feeling brave this year.  I love a good rodeo:)

Happy Trails, y'all!

And now for the BIG news...

This Saturday & Sunday Wool & What-not and Kellie Falconer Design will be appearing at Pickin' on the Prairie, our first ever antique and craft show!  Together, we'll be offering a lovely selection of clothing, crocheted accessories, vintage finds, and home decor in our wall tent booth.

I've been crocheting and sewing like crazy getting new items ready for this event, and I think it's going to be a lot of fun!

If you're in the area, we'd love to see you there!

Happy Trails, y'all!

p.s.
I still have a ton of stuff to finish up in time for the show, so Wallpaper Wednesday will be postponed until further notice.  My creative juices are decidedly low at this point anyway;)

Jiggery Pokery, Wibbley Wobbley

9:00 PM - Dusk

Under the leafy branches of the apple and cherry trees in the orchard, a magical world has appeared...

- blue lights - a computer - snacks - lots of pillows - sleeping bags - DVDs - 3D glasses -

Let the first official Orchard Sleepover and Doctor Who Party begin!

"Rose, always bring a banana to a party." - The Doctor

Edible ball-bearings?  Oh, yes!

btw, the cupcake on the far right was dubbed "the David Tennant cupcake" by my bro because he said the frosting looked like David's hair;)

We settled down with our bananas, cupcakes, delicious caramels from France (thanks Winnie!), put on our 3D glasses, and then I introduced Kellie to the wonderful world of the Doctor.

We watched Rose and Dalek from the 9th Doctor's time, then skipped ahead to Ten with The Christmas Invasion, then Blink, and wrapped up our evening with Army of Ghosts and Doomsday.
Oh, and on a previous sleepover, we watched Silence in the Library-Forest of the Dead, so technically that was Kellie's "real" first introduction to Doctor Who.  Sorta chucked her in at the deep end, you might say. ;D

When we got to David Tennant, the squeals began...and really never stopped after that.
He's brilliant...and amazing...and adorable...and has GREAT hair...and he's brilliant...and...I'm stopping now. ;)

There were sooooo many other episodes and specials I wanted Kellie to see - Father's Day, The Empty Child-The Doctor Dances, Girl in the Fireplace, Rise of the Cybermen, Idiot's Lantern, The Runaway Bride, Smith and Jones, Shakespeare Code, 42, Human Nature-Family of BloodVoyage of the Damned, Partners in Crime, Fires of Pompeii, Planet of the Ood, The Sontaran Stratagem-The Poison Sky, The Doctor's Daughter, The Unicorn and the Wasp, Turn Left, The Stolen Earth, Journey's End, etc. - but when it's 4 o'clock in the morning, and you suddenly realize that dawn isn't too far away, it's time to go to sleep.  Hehe - yeah, we only got about 4 hours of sleep.

But, it was absolutely the BEST sleepover EVER!!

We woke to gentle, early morning sunlight shining through the leaves overhead.

While I was feeding the horses, Kellie tidied our campsite and snapped photos.

Blanket tents are cool.

Actually, I'd forgotten just how much fun they are...but I never will again.

3D glasses (made by my bro and I - template here) and pin-back buttons made by Kellie.

One for each of us (we let my bro hang out for a bit because he really likes DW, too;) - they say "Run", "Timey-Wimey", and "Allons-y".  Very awesome!

And the Bonnie dog got to sleep outside with us, snuggled up next to me.

She's a Whovian, too. :)

Happy Trails, y'all!

my huckleberry friend

Huckleberries
The state fruit of Idaho.

My bro and I went huckleberry picking with our friends Mrs. G and Alyssa last week.

It was an absolutely perfect day.
What could be better than roaming the shaded forest trails picking berries while chatting with good friends?

Thankfully we're all capable of picking and talking at the same time, or we wouldn't have had hardly any berries!  Our topic of conversation ranged from food, to unity within the church, to family, and then back to food.  Actually, we spent an amazing amount of time talking about food.  Everything from sushi to baklava.
It was awesome:)

Me...and my alarmingly brightly colored water bottle.  Whoa - someone pass out the sunglasses!

Huckleberries range in color from red to deep purple to blue.  They're absolutely lovely...

...and boy, are they delicious!

Tired feet...

After 4 1/2 hours of picking, my finger tips were stained a lovely purple-y red...with quite a bit of dirt mixed in, actually.  *shrugs*

But my aching back, stained fingers, and tired feet were well worth these...

Together, my bro and I brought home 1 and 3/4 gallons of berries, which are now safely stashed away in the freezer waiting to be turned into delicious jams, cobblers, syrups, pies, and whatever else we can think of!

I just wish I could share some with y'all.  Then again...alright! everyone stay back!!  These are MY huckleberries!  Don't even look at them!   Welll, you can look at them, but stay at least 3 feet away at all times.  I've got a frying pan, and I know how to use it.  That's better...

Happy Trails, everyone;)

Wallpaper Wednesday | My Doctor {vol. 2}

Annndd, I almost forgot it was Wednesday.
Wellll, I didn't forget it was Wednesday really, I just forgot to share my latest wallpaper creations until now.
*smile*

So, Vol. 2 of the My Doctor series.
I didn't get as many wallpapers completed as I wanted to, so these will have to suffice.   Kellie and I are going to have a booth for our shops at a local-ish antique/craft event in a few weeks, so I've been rather busy creating new items to sell.  More on that later...  As a result I haven't had as much time to play around with graphic design on my computer, and in order to get everything done in time I'll be taking a break from Wallpaper Wednesday next week.

But enough about that - time for some Doctor Who wallpaper!
Allons-y!

The Lazarus Experiment is probably one of my least favorite episodes, but honestly, how can you resist the Doctor playing the pipe organ?!  Not me...

Actually, I think these four are some of my very favorites. :)

{all pictures link to their full size images and are also available on the For You page}
....

I hope you all had a simply marvelous Wednesday!
Happy Trails!
